| In 1998, a few of my friends gathered to form a band called RolyPoly. Two of us had played together in a band called Scrubbing Bubbles a decade earlier as twenty-nothings. Seeing that we were much older and had a burning yearning desire to be young all over again, we gave it another shot as thirty- somethings with another two guys that were having premature midlife crises too. We metamorphosed into a power trio in 2001 and have been that way since. We have a full CD of respectable tunes that sounds like some kind of 80’s punk fusion of the Ramones, the Smiths, and the Clash. We'd like to thank the Garage in downtown Mobile (www.myspace.com/thegaragemobile) for sponsoring our CD release. We play out in public sporadically and rehearse even less; especially now. John Ashbee, who I believe is one of the best local song writers in the region, has had two sons and has settled down to parenthood somewhat with his lovely wife. Our drummer, Tuan Titlestad, who toured all over the country in the 80s and early 90s with Solvgade and Stiff Richards (Cali-punk bands), now owns a respected construction/remodeling firm in Mobile, AL and is a father too. |
